Quintessential Songs: Brain Damage, Young Lust, Comfortably Numb
Musical Style: One of the originators of psychedelic rock, Pink Floyd is known for being one of the most progressive rock bands to come out of the British Invasion. Throughout the ’60s and ’70s, their sound and lineup went through changes, but each album was more amazingly detailed than the last. From the epic Dark Side of the Moon to the moody Animals and classic rock opera The Wall, Pink Floyd undoubtedly has one of the most unique sounds around.
Quoted: “I have no problem with any question.” – Roger Waters
Fashion Style: Like their sound, the band’s look transitioned through the eras, from frilly and fancy in the ’60s to more laid-back and relaxed in the ’70s, the epitome of stoner rock gods. Whether all spruced up in pink cravats, or playing their epic tunes in tight shirts and tighter jeans, their look never mattered half as much as their music.
Legacy: Pink Floyd is known for being one of the most successful and influential rock bands of all time. It’s two leaders, Roger Waters and David Gilmour, rarely agree to be on stage together anymore, but they both play their famous music regularly in solo gigs. When and if they ever reunite, I’ll be front row and center!
